Coventry Information

Based in the county of the West Midlands, Coventry is a city with a rich cultural history and plenty of sights for visitors to see. It is the second largest city in the Midlands and has a population of around 300,848. The city is also popular as it is conveniently placed between London and Birmingham and offers transport routes to both. During the ‘Battle of Stalingrad’ Coventry became the world’s first twin city with Stalingrad (now called Volgograd) itself. This was because of many residents in Coventry openly supporting the Soviet Red Army during this time.

The city offers a range of historic locations for viewing. One of the most popular is the 12th Century parish church in Rectory Lane. The All Saint’s church is still functional today and much of the original architecture is still present within the building. For people looking for a more intense experience there are Blue Badge tours available that will take you around historic locations in the area. Nature lovers will surely enjoy the Brandon Marsh Nature Centre which features an exciting range of hands-on activities, facts and information and a traditional tea shop.

The Coventry Canal art trail features 39 works by 31 different artists all of which have been inspired by local history and more contemporary culture in and around Coventry. The city also features an eclectic mix of museums including the transport museum, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and the watchmaker’s museum project.

If you’re looking to do a spot of shopping Coventry city centre has a range of chain and independent stores that are sure to meet the needs of any customer. So why not head down to Coventry and see for yourself all the fantastic experiences it can offer?
